NPD Technologist

The role

This role plays a key part in developing new Gluten Free Oat products for our in house brandscustomer private labels and food manufacturers using a diverse range of ingredients including porridge flakes, oat flour, oatbased beverages and pulpsWorking within an experienced NPD team which provides a dynamic environment for the right person to run their own projects whilst being supported and mentored.  

Your responsibilities

Key aspects of the role include: 

• Develop new products from concept through to launch, in line with approved briefs, agreed timelines, cost targets, technical requirements and quality standards 

• Liaise with internal stakeholders including account managers, marketing, technical, operations to ensure cross-functional engagement 

• Seek creative process solutions within existing manufacturing capabilities 

• Tracking competitor activity, food trends and market developments to drive innovation 

• Develop recipes using Glebe Farm ingredients for customer use within their manufacturing process 

• Run lab and factory trials, undertake benchmarking sessions and taste panels and support 1st production 

• Work alongside commercial coordinating customer visits including making samples, product costings and technical specifications 

• Create new production specifications from ingredient data, lab testing and shelf-life testing 

• Ensure compliance with Glebe Farm Foods NPD process  

Skills and experience

• Minimum degree level qualification preferably in Food Science, Food Technology or related discipline 

• At least three years’ experience in product development preferably in similar product categories 

• Strong project management skills with excellent planning, organisational and communication abilities 

• Creative awareness coupled with commercial understanding 

• Ability to manage your own projects  

• Understanding of the ‘free from’ market
